"Annual or perennial shrub to 1.5 m high, all parts except for inner flower parts pubescent." (PlantNET)
Senna notabilis has seen moderate use in coal mine rehabilitation. The harvestability and the physical properties of the seed make it highly suited to direct seeding. Larger plants are more productive targets. Considerable areas of small fruiting plants may be exceedingly dense after fire has stimulated germination. These will reproduce very soon after germination if conditions are permitting. In the hot dry conditions normally seen around ripening time it is possible to shake the plant canopies into bins and accumulate large amounts of pod.
Senna notabilis is mostly found across Central and northern Western Australia, the Northern Territory and western Queensland. A small number of occurrences are in western New South Wales and northern South Australia. The most easterly occurrence is near Newlands Coal Mine south of Collinsville in Queensland.
