"Perennial. Rhizomes present. Culms erect or geniculately ascending, stature slender to delicate, 30–70(–100) cm tall, ..." (Simon, B.K. & Alfonso, Y. 2011. AusGrass2)
Paspalidium distans has a large distribution on the eastern side of Australia. It can be found in plant communities on a diverse variety of sites including clay plains, alluvial plains, vine thickets and elevated areas with less water availability including scarps and Corymbia citriodora dominated systems. Therefore, its general relevance for rehabilitating sites across eastern Australia is high. The seed produced by this taxon is very suitable for sowing by conventional machinery.
Paspalidium distans is widely distributed in Queensland and New South Wales from coastal to inland places, generally but to altogether excluding the far west. Also found in the Northern Territory and from very limited areas in Western Australia.
