Grewia retusifolia is a small shrub suited to mine rehabilitation which can be collected at an economic rate with simple methods.
Dysentery can be caused by a number of different pathogens resulting in severe diarrhea, abdominal pain and other symptoms. Both Grewia latifolia and Grewia retusifolia became popular remedies for dysentry among early European settlers in Australia after aboriginal people first imparted knowledge of the medicinal properties.
Widespread across northern Queensland incuding Cape York, northern portion of Northern Territory and northen West Australia. Southern limits occur near Gladstone, Emerald, Mt Isa, Halls Creek and near Broome.
