Fimbristylis dichotoma has not appeared for sale as seed to our knowledge. However, it has a large distribution and would be a very useful addition to the range of native ground flora available for direct seeding. In recent times we have found that harvesting and seed cleaning can take place with existing conventional equipment. The seed may appear very pale when ripe, however the taxon is quite variable.
Fimbristylis dichotoma is found over the majority of the Australian mainland. Along the coastline of Victoria, South Australia and southern Western Australia it has only been recorded from a couple of locations.
