"Perennial. Stolons absent or present. Culms erect, 10–45 cm tall." (Simon, B.K. & Alfonso, Y. 2011. Ausgrass2)
Chloris truncata is an excellent taxon for revegetating sites which it may colonise efficiently. We observe it occurring as a minor portion of various bluegrass paddocks which were originally eucalypt woodland or open forest but also as a dominant species in some settings such as cleared brigalow and belah.
Distributed coastally and inland through SA, Vic, NSW and in Qld north to about Rockhampton. Also, in southern WA, however absent on the Nullarbor.
