Common Name(s)

Description

"Multistemmed, resinous, shrub or tree to 5 (–8) m high. Bark ‘Minni Ritchi’, red-brown or grey."

(WorldWideWattle ver. 2)

Notes

"Grows mainly on ironstone or sandstone/quartzite in stony skeletal soils, often on rocky ridges or steep slopes, in red sand or sandy loam, in eucalypt woodland, open Acacia shrubland or spinifex communities. Flowers Apr.–Aug." (WorldWideWattle ver. 2)

Acacia monticola is another resinous Acacia with Minni Ritchi bark which we have documented around the Mount Isa-Cloncurry area. The resin, as it relates to seed collection, is not as problematic as with Acacia chisholmii. However, it remains to be seen if seed will be produced in generous quantities.
