Common Name(s)

Description

"Slightly resinous shrub or tree to 7 m high." (WorldWideWattle ver. 2)

Notes

"Grows in gravelly sands on river beds and creek banks and on sandy beaches in mangrove communities. Flowers June–Sept." (WorldWideWattle ver. 2)

Acacia hemsleyi is quite visible around watercourses surrounding Mount Isa including in the town. The green phyllodes are relatively narrow (to 14mm) for their length (to 14.5cm) compared to many other wattles in the region. Seed collections we made indicate that the process is uncomplicated and yields are reasonably good.
