Notes

"Invariably in pure stands or with emergent eucalypts on shallow soils on scarps of weathered sediments, sometimes adjoining, but not mixing with, stands of Acacia shirleyi or members of the A. aneura complex." (Flora of Australia)

Acacia catenulata was formerly identified as Acacia aneura (Mulga) with which it may initially be confused. It is also closely related to Acacia shirlyei and may be found in close proximity. The pods are distinctive being flat and constricted between seeds. They will readily break at the point of these constrictions.

"Confined to Queensland, except for a record from Northern Territory: from a little E of Surat to the Grey Range in the S, extending N to White Mountains National Park, near Pentland, with a remarkable disjunction to the Glyde River area, Northern Territory." (Flora of Australia)
